Toronto’s Own ARMED Jewellery Celebrates 4th Anniversary

ARMED recently celebrated its 4th anniversary at an intimate party hosted at the Cooper Cole Gallery on Dundas West. Designer Desiree Girlato is a self-taught jewellery designer who started ARMED from her dining room table, and has grown the brand to its flagship store at 1024 Dundas Street West.

The anniversary party was a celebration of entrepreneurship and style, with drinks, music, and a photo booth, where attendees could try on the intricate head pieces and statement necklaces. Girlato worked the room and the F/W 2015 collection was on display. Since its inception in 2011, ARMED has always identified with being bold and beautiful and the F/W collection followed suit.

The pieces consist of raw, unique stones combined with brass, steel and 24k gold sourced from around the world. My favourites from the collection were necklaces made from transparent quartz spheres with varying degrees of onyx additions, which created the perfect stark contrast. Other drool-worthy pieces included a silver and brass chain mail necklace reminiscent of armor, and a cross between a bib necklace and a vest, with multiple strings of vintage pearls draped from a thin brass chain.
