One of the coolest things of this year’s NXNE wasn’t the music, but the posters about the music. Set up in the Hub was a poster exhibit called The National Poster Retrospecticus. NPR is a traveling show with over 350 hand-printed event posters. Basically it’s an opportunity for artists to illustrate for their favourite bands. According to organizer John, some of them were commissioned by the bands and others were just created by the artists as an homage. I collect posters like this and was sad more weren’t available for sale. They were all incredible. I love the way that the music inspires the artist. The posters were an attribute to the festival and I encourage you to check out their website and maybe pick something up.
