The Rural Alberta Advantage (RAA) is a Canadian indie rock band that formed in 2005 in Toronto and one of my many bands on my ‘Favorites’ list of my Ticketmaster account. If you haven’t heard of them, now you have, you’re welcome.
Although RAA has been around since 2005, I believe it wasn’t until the re-release of their album (in 2009), Hometowns, that their fan base really started to grow. Since the re-release, RAA has released two more albums, Departing(2011) & Mended with Gold(2014). Some pretty amazing singles have come from Departing, Tornado ’87 and Stamp, to name a few, but it’s what is now being played across the airways, that is constantly on repeat in my house:
The RAA is on tour now and will be coming to Toronto to the Danforth Music Hall on December 18th, it’s going to be a goodie!
Did I mention July Talk will be playing with RAA on the 18th? Another reason why the show is sold out.
In our Staff Picks series, each NU staffer will be showcasing their favourite album or song and tagging it with their #Naked hashtag. Be sure to follow your favourite writers through their hashtags on Twitter & Instagram at @NUndergroundTO.
