NXNE 2015 Preview Part 2: Thrilling Thursday

Were you out for NXNE last night?? Did our Wonderful Wednesday preview help you decide who to see and where to go? Are you ready for more? Yes. Yes. And Yes. [fist bump + explosion] You rock! If you answered no to any, that’s cool too (I guess). Anyway, let’s keep this party going.

Thursday June 18

I share an office with the bassist Nick, he’s a great guy. I believe he’s single ladies (you’re welcome Nick). I get to hear a lot of interesting stories. Needless to say this trio of noise punk is worthy of a near miss with the Emergency Task Force. CHECK THEM OUT!!!!!!!

Iceage

If you saw these guys in 2013 expect less teen-angst and more subtle adult-angst. Last year’s Plowing into the Field of Love still has plenty of anger and guitar jangle.

Jeremy Loops

8 pm | Sneaky Dee’s | Facebook

South African, #manbun, #beard, accent, plays guitar and harmonica. Oh, and by day he saves trees in Africa with his organization Greenpop. #ManCrush. Great folky tunes too!

K. Flay

7:30 pm | Mod Club | Facebook

Watch a couple videos on YouTube you’ll understand why Kristine Flaherty is really cool. She raps smart lyrics and mixes hip-hop with electro-pop and rock. Should be a fun way to start the night.

Lucius

1 am | Adelaide Hall | Facebook

Sophisticated melodies and beautiful harmonies from dual frontwomen Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig. When they sing “I don’t need you, go home” it will feel like a stab to the heart. Don’t obey that command though, you will want to stay for the whole set.

Overland

3 am | Rivoli | Facebook

If you are into techno and house beats you are more than likely up at this hour on the regular. You’ll definitely want to check out this rising star from Calgary.
