NXNE 2015 Preview Fantastic Fridays

So, did you have a Thrilling Thursday last night? I know I did! I was a #NXNE trooper and made it to the 3 am Overland set and last call at the Rivoli. Then had an early breakfast at the Thompson Diner with some cool Calgarians.

Are you ready for more music? Of course you are.

M for 159 Manning

all day | 159 Manning | Facebook event

A big house party with some great music acts with free pizza and veggie burgers. What’s not to love?? Cost is $20 at the door, and wristbands get in free before 5 pm. Note: it’s BYOB.

Warpaint w/ Zoo Owl

12 am | Adelaide Hall | Facebook

If you haven’t listened to their 2009 EP Exquisite Corpses, you should (like now). Then listen to last year’s self-titled album (you’re welcome). They have melodies that kill and they’ll eat you alive.

Arrive early and Zoo Owl will hypnotize you with trippy techno pop and glowing light goggles. Set starts at 9 pm.

Lia Ices

8 pm | Mod Club | Facebook

If you want to immerse yourself in sounds from around the world, check out her latest album Ices. Prepare to feel intense wanderlust.

9 pm | The Smiling Buddha | Official website

Let Toronto underground punk trio’s moody vocals and loud noises accurately embody your daily #TTC commute.

OM w/ Liturgy

10 pm | Opera House | Facebook

Some like to meditate to the sounds of whales and birds chirping. While others prefer the heavy aural soundscape of psychedelic experimental music.

On before OM, Liturgy are a metal band from Brooklyn that are most definitely not hipters.

Ontario Hospital

2 am | The Garrison | Facebook

Finish your night in the west end with some angry industrial techno. Hopefully you won’t need to go to the real hospital down the road.
